Emergency Operations Center
The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) of Guatemalan Red Cross is the area responsible to promote, plan and coordinate jointly the initial operating actions in response to emergencies, disasters and crises.
Emergency Coordination
Emergencies and urgencies are coordinated in the EOC, where emergency calls are received and classified, and then the institutional resources are sent to initiate response actions.
Around the clock, we receive emergency calls at (+502) 125, our free emergency number, where a qualified staff provides assistance over the phone to the population while the aid arrives at the emergency site.
Monitoring and Analysis
The EOC is equipped with physical and technological tools that are used to do a constant monitoring and analysis of the weather conditions, climate events, tremors, volcanic and hydrological activity that could affect our country, either directly or indirectly.
Among these tools, the EOC has radio communication equipment installed throughout the country to achieve nationwide efficient communication with the Delegations of Guatemalan Red Cross.
A Meteorological Station is also installed in Guatemala City, which is used to monitor the weather, so weather projections can be prepared during any natural-caused emergency.
