The program: Preparation and Response to Emergencies, Disasters and Crises, of the Directorate of Disaster Risk Management, is in line with the Vision, Mission of the Guatemalan Red Cross and objectives 1 and 2; “Saving lives, protecting livelihoods and supporting recovery after disasters and crises”, Enabling a healthy and safe life, of its Strategic Development Plan 2013 – 2016 implements humanitarian aid, achieving risk reduction and providing actions to emergencies, disasters or crises through formative processes and volunteer training.
Aims
To strengthen Guatemalan Red Cross capacity of providing response to emergencies, disasters or crisis according to the Fundamental Principles and the “Principles and Norms of Red Cross and Red Crescent for Humanitarian Assistance”.
Exercise its mandate to assist the Public authorities in situations of emergencies, disasters and crises, implementing humanitarian aid for response and recovery, focused on building more resilient communities.
